Amidst ongoing hostilities and the constant threat of drone strikes, Ukraine has significantly strengthened measures to protect its transport infrastructure. The country's Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced the scaling up of anti-drone protection on key logistics routes in frontline regions.

Record Pacing of Protection Deployment

According to official data, more than 822 kilometers of roads have already been made safe for traffic since the beginning of the current year. A significant surge in the pace of work occurred in May: specialists from the State Special Transport Service (Derserv) equipped more than 211 kilometers of routes with modern anti-drone protection systems.

Parallel to the installation of new structures, work is underway to restore damaged sections. Over the last month, nearly 38 kilometers of protective structures destroyed during hostilities have been returned to service.

Infrastructure Restoration and Road Repair

Drone protection is only one part of the comprehensive work to ensure logistics. Active repair work continues on highways in the frontline areas. Over the last month, 115.5 kilometers of road surface have been restored. In total, since the beginning of the year, more than 170 kilometers of roads damaged by shelling and the movement of heavy military equipment have been repaired in the combat zone.

To accelerate these processes, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has urgently allocated an additional 3.5 billion hryvnias from the state budget reserve fund. These funds are directed towards the urgent repair of local roads. The repair is carried out on a co-financing basis with local budgets, as the condition of these highways directly affects the speed of resource delivery and the evacuation of the wounded.

Strategic Importance of Route Protection

Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized that scaling up protection systems is of critical importance for the front. The presence of protected corridors allows for sustainable logistics and the rapid delivery of necessary resources to the front lines.

Particular attention is paid to the safety of evacuating wounded Ukrainian servicemen and the secure movement of defense forces. "Every protected kilometer is safe logistics and saved lives," noted the head of the Ministry of Defense.

Threats on Specific Sections

Despite successes in protection, the threat remains. In particular, since the beginning of June 2026, Russian troops have intensified attacks on the road connecting Kharkiv and Sumy. According to military data, the enemy has chosen a section near Bohodukhiv, located just 20 kilometers from the border, for strikes. In this regard, drivers are urged to exercise maximum caution when traveling along this route.
