In the context of constant power outages, Ukrainians are gaining new opportunities to maintain communication. The state has decided to simplify requirements for home equipment so that residents can stay connected even in the dark.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKU). The regulator has approved a draft amendment to the Rules of the Retail Electricity Market, the main goal of which is to ensure access to the internet and security in the absence of centralized power supply.

Technical changes: from 0.1 to 0.3 kW

The key innovation lies in changing power limits. The draft resolution provides for an increase in the permissible power of electrical installations that can be connected without a separate metering node. Previously, this threshold was 0.1 kW; now it is raised to 0.3 kW.

This decision aims to free consumers from unnecessary bureaucratic procedures. Now, devices critical for the operation of the Internet and security systems can be used without complex coordination.

What can be connected without extra coordination

New norms allow the legal use of low-power equipment necessary for network operation. In particular, the new rules cover:

  • Routers and modems;
  • Video surveillance systems;
  • Security devices.

The document also clarifies the procedure for determining the volume of electricity consumption by such installations, which should simplify interaction with suppliers.

Transparency of the "green" tariff

In addition to communication issues, the draft resolution improves the calculation mechanism for private households using the "green" tariff. The changes concern the deadlines for providing data on payments, which should make interaction in the electricity market more transparent and understandable for participants.

Currently, the draft is being prepared for publication on the official NKREKU website. In the near future, all interested parties will be able to familiarize themselves with the text of the document, discuss it, and submit their proposals before final approval.
