Ukraine is set to establish its first Research and Practical Center for Robotic Surgery as part of a broad international cooperation framework. The project is being implemented through the joint efforts of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, the Ministry of Health, leading medical institutions, and the Chinese company Suzhou Kangduo Robot. The new medical facility will combine patient treatment, educational programs for doctors, and extensive research activities.

Signing of the Memorandum in China

The official ceremony for concluding the strategic cooperation memorandum took place during an official visit of the Ukrainian delegation to China, with organizational support provided by the Embassy of Ukraine in Beijing. The document was signed by representatives of the parliamentary health committee, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Center for Cardiology and Cardiosurgery, the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, and the management of Suzhou Kangduo Robot Co., Ltd. This agreement establishes a solid foundation for introducing advanced medical technologies into Ukraine's healthcare system.

Technological Base and Innovative Equipment

The key element of the future center's technical equipment will be the modern SR2000 robotic surgical system. During the trip, Ukrainian specialists also visited the CMEF 2026 medical technology exhibition, where they reviewed advanced diagnostic complexes from Shanghai United Imaging, including the uMR 890 MRI system, the uEXPLORER total-body PET/CT system, and the uRT-linac radiation therapy system. Additionally, the delegation visited the office of SageBot and the Kangduo Robot training center to examine multi-manipulator surgical systems.

Significance of the Project for Domestic Medicine

The need to introduce such technologies is driven by an acute shortage of specialized personnel and limited access to advanced surgical complexes amid a general increase in vacancies in the medical sector. Robot-assisted operations allow surgeons to perform complex interventions with ultimate precision, minimize tissue trauma, and significantly accelerate patient rehabilitation. The creation of a specialized center will enable not only unique surgeries but also the systematic training of qualified domestic professionals to work with high-tech equipment.
