Ukraine and the US have agreed on key ideas and approaches to ending the war, — Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while meeting with journalists, stated that Kyiv and its international partners have worked out three key proposals for ending the war with Russia. According to the head of state, these initiatives have already been coordinated with the American and European sides and represent a joint plan, rather than an exclusively Ukrainian position.

Coordination of Kyiv's and Washington's Positions

Zelenskyy explained that during negotiations with the US special envoy Steve Witkoff and the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, the parties reached agreement and "put on one page" the discussions, which collect realistic scenarios for ending hostilities. The President emphasized that the ideas voiced were finalized following contacts by the American side with both Kyiv and Moscow, indicating the development of a unified position ahead of further international consultations.

A Single Document and Further Diplomatic Steps

According to Zelenskyy, the prepared document is planned to be discussed by the American side with both Ukraine and Russia. "Everyone is reacting positively to what has been proposed; no one has any objections. That is what is on the table today," stated the President of Ukraine. He also added that the US has several additional ideas that Washington intends to share in the near future, indicating the ongoing nature of diplomatic coordination.

Defense Needs and the Financial Question

In parallel with resolving financial issues for the country's defense, Zelenskyy identified two global problems facing the state — ballistic weapons and a shortage of funds. In particular, to cover defense needs, Ukraine is expecting 30 billion euros from partners. These statements confirm that the diplomatic track toward ending the war is being pursued simultaneously with ensuring the country's military sustainability.

Plans for Territories

Against the backdrop of diplomatic contacts, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to hold the enemy at bay and plan to restore control over territories. According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine expects to even the score with Russia on territories by the end of 2026, balancing the ratio of occupied and liberated lands since the beginning of the year. Thus, the negotiation process and combat operations on the front are viewed as interconnected elements of an overall strategy.
