Energy officials report an improvement in the situation within the power grid, however, they urge citizens to remain vigilant and conserve resources. Stability has become possible thanks to lower temperatures in neighboring countries and an increase in electricity imports.

How the heatwave affected the grid

Recently, the power system was under colossal load due to an abnormal heatwave that swept across the entire country. The mass activation of air conditioners and climate control equipment led to a surge in consumption of at least 25%. This forced operators to implement a blackout schedule to prevent a collapse.

In addition to weather factors, scheduled maintenance work and the need to restore facilities damaged by Russian shelling continue to affect grid stability. The situation remains tense, and any external changes could impact the availability of electricity.

Ukrenergo recommendations: when to turn on appliances

Ukrenergo specialists have developed a clear algorithm of action for citizens to help relieve the grid during peak hours:

  • Daytime (10:00 – 16:00): During this period, industrial solar power plants operate most effectively. It is recommended to shift the use of powerful appliances (washing machines, dishwashers, ovens) to this interval.
  • Evening hours (16:00 – 23:00): At this time, the load on the grid is at its maximum. Citizens are urged to practice strict conservation: turn off unnecessary lighting and limit the use of household appliances and air conditioners.

Rational consumption during the evening peak is a key factor that will help avoid a return to forced outages.
