The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has officially denied the involvement of its military personnel in a fatal conflict that occurred between two Ukrainians on the territory of Slovakia. This was stated in a comment to an RBC-Ukraine correspondent by Yuriy Ihnat, Head of the Communications Department of the Air Force Command.

Official position of the Command

According to Ihnat, claims that the incident involved military personnel from the Air Force specifically do not correspond to reality. "Neither pilots nor other aviation personnel are currently undergoing training in Slovakia. Many Ukrainian soldiers are undergoing flight training abroad, but not in Slovakia," the spokesperson emphasized. Thus, the agency effectively rejects the categorization of the participants in the fight as representatives of this branch of the service.

What is known about the incident

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that a fight between two Ukrainian soldiers took place at a hotel in the city of Trenčín. The Slovak publication Nový Čas, for its part, stated that the conflict involved two Ukrainian soldiers who, according to the editorial office, are Air Force personnel and are undergoing training in Slovakia.

Circumstances of the tragedy

According to available information, during the attack, a 53-year-old man wounded another person with a knife. Despite the efforts of medics, the victim died from their injuries while being transported to the hospital. The details of the investigation and the legal qualification of the actions of the participants in the conflict were being clarified at the time of writing.

Discrepancy in versions

There is a notable discrepancy between the position of the local press and the statement of the Air Force Command: Slovak media point to the affiliation of the participants with the aviation forces and their training in Slovakia, while the Ukrainian agency directly denies the presence of its aviation personnel in the country. The only undisputed fact is the fatal conflict in Trenčín involving a bladed weapon.
