Ukraine is on the verge of creating its own ballistic missile capable of striking targets on Russian territory. This was stated by Ukrainian Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov in an interview with the TSN television channel. According to the head of the defense ministry, the appearance of a domestic 'ballistic missile' will be a turning point that will radically change Ukraine's status in the international community.
A New League in the War
Mykhailo Fedorov did not go into technical details of the development, noting that excessive publicity could raise public expectations too high or reveal strategic plans to the enemy. However, the essence of the minister's statement is unambiguous: a Ukrainian ballistic missile will be created and will begin to be used for strikes against Russian targets.
"Ukrainian ballistics will change everything in this war. It will fundamentally change Ukraine's status in the world. We have changed it many times before, but this is a completely different league," emphasized Fedorov, confirming the words of the country's president about the inevitability of the appearance of this weapon.
Technological Breakthrough and Savings
The minister's statement came against the backdrop of real successes of the Ukrainian defense industry. The company Fire Point has already completed work on the FP-7.x anti-ballistic missile, which has successfully passed tests. Earlier, the founder of the company, Stillerman, stated that Ukrainian developments FP-7 and FP-9 will become direct analogues of American ATACMS missiles, but will cost the customer twice as cheap.
Critical Shortage of Ammunition
The development of domestic missile manufacturing has become a matter of survival for the Ukrainian Armed Forces against the backdrop of an acute shortage of foreign supplies. The Air Force of Ukraine reports a critical shortage of ammunition for Patriot, NASAMS, and IRIS-T air defense systems. In some units, the ammunition supply is practically exhausted, and representatives of the Air Force are forced to literally beg for 5–10 missiles to ensure defense.
