Ukrainian company Contra Drone held a closed field Demo Day event, showcasing a comprehensive counter-drone system. During the presentation, over 20 defense solutions were introduced, unified under a single protection architecture. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing company materials.
Automated Mini-Air Defense System MADS
The centerpiece of the new system is the automated mini-air defense complex MADS (Mini Air Defense System). The development is designed for the detection, tracking, and interception of small aerial targets, including FPV drones, quadcopters, and flying wings moving at speeds up to 300 km/h.
A key feature of the complex is its ability to operate in fully automatic mode. The system can destroy targets at a distance and altitude of up to 1,000 meters in any weather conditions without operator intervention. Interceptor missiles can be equipped with various types of warheads: fragmentation, thermobaric, or net-based.
Individual Protection and Mobile Solutions
The second part of the demonstration focused on protecting soldiers directly on the front line. Specialists tested the D-JACK device, which automatically detects ELRS protocol controllers and applies targeted electronic warfare effects to them.
The following solutions for mobile protection were also shown:
- The Contra-drone Anti-fpv BackPack 3 system in a backpack format, creating a personal safety dome while moving.
- The mast-based "Anti-Mavic" complex.
- Special protective gear made of Rip-Stop fabric, shielding EW operators from electromagnetic radiation.
Infrastructure and Logistics Protection
To ensure the security of infrastructure and logistics chains, the company has developed vehicle-mounted and stationary systems. These include the directional "Phantom" complex, the universal "Boombox," and the hidden installation system "NATPOL," designed for integration into civilian vehicles.
During a test in motion, the flagship Contra-drone 8 Ultra complex was deployed on a vehicle base. It demonstrated the ability to jam the entire spectrum of digital and analog communication channels of hostile unmanned aerial vehicles.
Robotic Platforms and Artificial Intelligence
In the final part of the event, attention was paid to robotic platforms and drones with integrated artificial intelligence. The main novelty was the high-speed autonomous interceptor drone Peace Duck. It is capable of independently destroying Russian reconnaissance UAVs of the "Orlan" or Zala type at the final stage without operator intervention.
In addition to the interceptor, a line of strike FPV drones Yell Duck, unmanned wings Blackwing and Black Goose for operations in GPS-denied environments, and the ground logistics EW platform Nyvexa were presented. The climax of the presentation was the practical interception of an aerial target in real-time.
Technology Integration as the Key to Victory
Maxim Matskulyak, Commercial Director of Fly Group Ukraine, noted that the advantage on the battlefield is provided by the ability to integrate different technologies into a single system. This approach allows for rapid threat identification, analysis, and effective counteraction.
Recall that earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced a grant competition for the development of humanoid robots for the Defense Forces. According to the minister, the implementation of robotics should minimize risks for Ukrainian military personnel when performing combat tasks and rotating at the front. Previously, Petr Leontiev, Director of UGV Robotics, told RBC-Ukraine in an interview about how Ukrainian defense contractors would service ground autonomous complexes to minimize human involvement.
