Imagine this: you hear a brilliant musical improvisation, witness an incredible squash goal, or become a witness to a traffic incident requiring evidence. But at that moment, the camera isn't on, and the voice recorder is silent. Traditional apps require you to anticipate the event in advance, but Ukrainian developer Ihor Malevany has decided to change the rules of the game.
The BackTrack app is now available on the App Store, operating on the principle of "recording the past." The essence of the innovation is simple and ingenious: the program constantly records audio and video in the background, creating a continuous loop. You don't need to hold your finger on the record button. As soon as an event occurs, simply press the button in the interface, and the app will instantly cut and save the segment of time preceding your press to the gallery.
From Piano to Squash: How Routine Problems Birth Startups
The idea for BackTrack did not arise in a vacuum. It was a direct response to the author's personal needs. Ihor Malevany, a senior iOS and macOS developer, often faced the loss of creative moments. While playing the piano, successful melodies vanished into thin air because the voice recorder wasn't started in time. A similar situation occurred on squash courts, where the most spectacular moments slipped past the camera lens.
The developer realized that the problem is universal. Beyond creativity and sports, the app has found application in the security sector. BackTrack can serve as a full-fledged dashcam, always ready to record an incident on the road, even if the driver didn't have time to press the button before a collision.
Three Audiences and One Goal
Currently, the project is at the stage of finding its ideal positioning. BackTrack's target audience is diverse: musicians seeking inspiration, athletes wishing to analyze their game, and drivers concerned with safety. Each group has its own requests, but they are united by the desire to save a moment that has already happened.
Ihor Malevany plans to turn BackTrack into a full-fledged product with a clear marketing strategy. He intends to expand the team by attracting ASO (App Store Optimization) specialists to make this unique tool accessible to a wide range of users.
