Ukrainian motor racing is reaching an entirely new level thanks to the rapid progress of young talents on the international stage. 17-year-old Ukrainian driver Oleksandr Bondarev has officially decided on the team with which he will spend his full upcoming season. The racer has signed an agreement with the renowned French team R-ace GP, competing in the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC).
A full step forward in the promising driver's career was made possible following successful summer tests and a brilliant debut at the end of the current season. Official representatives of both parties are currently keeping the details of the contract secret, but the athlete himself has already expressed immense joy at the prospect ahead. According to him, a full season with new partners backed by the prestigious Williams Academy will open up excellent prospects for further growth in the world of motorsport.
Team management assessment and prospects
Thibaut de Merindol, head of the French racing team R-ace GP, highly praised the potential of the Ukrainian driver. According to him, the summer tests demonstrated outstanding results both in terms of pure speed on the track and in the context of quick adaptation and integration into the team's workflow. Natural talent, a strong work ethic, and the right mindset give management every reason to expect high results in the upcoming 2027 season.
Historical debut and path to success
It is worth recalling that in September, Oleksandr Bondarev made a loud statement at the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC) rounds, joining the peloton for the final two rounds. Already in the very first race of the weekend at the Italian track in Imola, the young Ukrainian managed to climb the podium, and in the third race, he achieved a sensational and brilliant victory. This triumph made him the first Ukrainian driver in history to conquer such a high peak in regional formula series. Prior to this, the driver triumphed in the UAE4 Series and also won the championship title in the E4 Rookie Championship.
