On the night of June 6, Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles struck a strategically important object deep within Russian territory. The target of the attack was the Kronstadt naval base of the Baltic Fleet, located in the Leningrad Region. According to Ukrainian sources, the drones covered a distance of about 1000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border to St. Petersburg.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported the strike in his Telegram channel. The head of state called these actions "sanctions" for the ongoing aggression. According to him, during the operation, the drones not only reached Kronstadt but also struck an oil depot in the Krasnodar Krai, covering a distance of 500 kilometers.

Operation details and confirmation by the Special Operations Forces

The Special Operations Forces (SOF) of Ukraine confirmed the attack. The department's statement noted that Deep Strike units, together with the Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), struck the infrastructure of the "Kronstadt" base. Several drones successfully reached their targets, resulting in a recorded fire on the site.

The SOF emphasized that "Kronstadt" is not just a symbol of the Russian fleet but also a key element of the enemy's war machine. The base houses warships, submarines, training centers, as well as repair docks and shipbuilding facilities. The Special Operations Forces noted that after losing some capabilities in the Black Sea, the significance of the Baltic Fleet for Russia has increased significantly, but now one of the oldest naval bases has come under attack.

Context: a series of strikes on the Leningrad Region

The attack on Kronstadt on the night of June 6 was a continuation of a series of strikes on military objects in the Leningrad Region. Just a week ago, on June 3, during the opening of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Ukraine carried out a large-scale attack on the port of Kronstadt.

At that time, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the leadership of the USF, ships and port infrastructure came under fire. Satellite images published later recorded a direct hit by drones at a distance of about 1100 km from the Ukrainian border. The footage clearly shows damage to the corvette "Boykiy," which was undergoing repairs in a dry dock. The vessel, which previously escorted oil tankers, sustained damage to its port side, and Russian services were forced to extinguish the fire.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on the latest events, thanked the soldiers for their accuracy and emphasized that any manifestations of injustice against Ukraine would have a response. "Russia needs to end its war and stop the strikes on life," the president stated.
