The official visit of Russian rapper Denis Ustimenko, known by the pseudonym Jeezy, to Israel has provoked a sharp reaction from the Ukrainian diplomatic mission. The Ukrainian Embassy in Israel called the invitation of the artist unacceptable and immoral, citing his open support for Russian aggression.
Diplomatic Scandal Surrounding the Visit
As reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing a statement from the embassy on Facebook, the ministry expressed serious concern over the fact of the official invitation of the controversial performer. The document emphasizes that Ustimenko, despite being a native of Odesa, has been under sanctions by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) since January 2023.
The Ukrainian side harshly criticized the position of Israeli partners, noting that the artist not only supports armed aggression against Ukraine but also mocks Russians who refuse to fight. The statement summarizes that Jeezy's silence on the death of former compatriots and the ignoring of daily bombings of Ukrainian cities, including his native Odesa, makes any cooperation with him unacceptable.
Call for Boycott and Notes of Protest
In response to the situation, the Ukrainian Embassy sent a corresponding note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel. The document contains a demand to cease any official interaction with supporters of "Russian terror." In addition, diplomats appealed to all citizens of Israel to boycott events involving Jeezy and other representatives of so-called Z-propaganda.
Tourism Mission and Jewish Roots
The reason for the artist's visit to Israel, according to the local Ministry of Tourism, was the performer's desire to travel with his children in search of his Jewish roots. The ministry noted that the trip became part of a marketing strategy in the Russian market, including cooperation with influencers and tourism companies.
In ministry publications, Jeezy is characterized as one of the most famous performers in Russia with a multi-million audience on social media. Earlier, in 2023, Russian media reported on the artist's possible plans to obtain an Israeli passport.
Artist's Position and History of the Conflict
Denis Ustimenko continues to live and work in Russia. In March 2024, he publicly demonstrated his Russian passport and expressed support for Vladimir Putin in the presidential elections. The artist does not comment on the strikes on Ukrainian cities. Earlier, in May 2021, his name was entered into the "Mirotdvorets" database for visiting Crimea and participating in propaganda events.
