The Ukrainian economy is showing momentum in foreign trade, actively exploring new geographical directions. According to official data from the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (Derzhprodspozhyvsluzhba), during the first six months of 2026, the country approved 23 new directions and trade conditions for exporting domestic products.
This figure exceeded the results of the entire previous year: in 2025, 22 new markets were opened. Thus, in just one six-month period in 2026, it was possible to achieve and surpass the annual record.
Geography and assortment: from raw materials to finished products
The geography of exports covers a wide range of countries — from China to Chile, including European Union states, Africa, and the Middle East. However, the key trend highlighted by the agency is the change in the structure of exported goods. More and more new markets are being opened specifically for finished products and goods with high added value.
The priority categories for exports include:
- Pet food;
- Dairy products;
- Egg products;
- Meat products;
- Other processed products.
Serhiy Tkachuk, head of Derzhprodspozhyvsluzhba, emphasized that opening new markets is not just statistical data, but real opportunities for Ukrainian producers. According to him, behind every approved certificate lies a chance for enterprises to expand production, find new partners, and create additional value within the country.
Strategic vector until 2030
Current successes in exports directly correlate with Ukraine's Export Strategy until 2030, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. The document provides for a fundamental transition from exporting primarily raw materials to increasing the share of competitive products with high added value.
"This means the development of processing, new jobs, and strengthening the economic resilience of our state," Tkachuk stated. Implementing this strategy requires a comprehensive approach and interaction between various state structures.
Support mechanisms and overcoming barriers
To achieve the set goals, Derzhprodspozhyvsluzhba works in close cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and diplomatic missions. The agency's task is not only to open new markets but also to eliminate technical barriers to trade and ensure state guarantees of compliance with the requirements of partner countries.
The agency notes that behind the dry figures lies significant teamwork. Supporting producers and adapting products to international market standards allow Ukrainian businesses to compete on a global scale, offering not only traditional goods but also innovative solutions in the food industry.
