The Ukrainian Fencing Cup continues in Uzhhorod, being held for the third time in a combined format across all three weapon disciplines: sabre, foil, and epee. Following the team sabre events, gold medals in both categories were claimed by teams from the Central Sports Club of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (CSK Armed Forces). This was reported by Sport RBC.UA, citing the Ukrainian Fencing Federation. For the military athletes, this result builds on their previous success: Alina Komashchuk and Yuriy Tsap had already won gold in the individual events, and now their club dominates the team competitions as well.

Men's Sabre: Nine-Touch Deficit and Dramatic Comeback

The men's team sabre final turned out to be one of the most dramatic of this Cup stage. Two CSK Armed Forces teams faced each other: the winners CSK Armed Forces-1, consisting of Yuriy Tsap, Andriy Yahodka, Danylo Skorokhod, and Yuriy Kuleshi, against Oleksiy Statsenko, Bohdan Bohovyn, and Roman Krasnovyd. During the match, the future champions trailed by nine touches, but managed to turn the tide and ultimately secured victory with a score of 45:37. Such a turnaround from a major deficit became the central storyline of the men's final, confirming the military club's status as one of the strongest in the country.

Women's Final: Revenge for Last Year's Defeat

In the women's team competition, the gold also went to the CSK Armed Forces. Alina Komashchuk, Daria Hontsova, Valeriia Hnidasheva, and Mariia Tsymbota defeated the Mykolaiv representatives 45:39 in the final. This victory holds special meaning: in last year's Ukrainian Fencing Cup final, the Mykolaiv team proved stronger, so this result served as full revenge, returning the trophy to the military club. The silver medals went to Oleksandra Bondar, Viktoriia Korotchenko, Alisa Kostina, and Anastasiia Shvets from Mykolaiv.

Bronze Medals and Debut Podium for the Capital Club

Bronze in the men's sabre was won by the Kyiv club "La Fleche", represented by Vasyl Humen, Yehor Kambulov, Dmytro Kapitanov, and Nazar Karashchenko. For this team, the medal is their first at national senior competitions in the men's sabre, highlighting the club's growing level. In the women's event, bronze was claimed by the Odesa team, featuring Olympic champion Olena Kravatska, Valeriia Morenets-Kubanska, Katarina Zamkovska, and Mariia Ozarenko.

Tournament Format and Cup Continuation

The competitions are being held for the third time in a comprehensive integrated format across all three weapon types, allowing the determination of the strongest in sabre, foil, and epee within a single tournament. The Ukrainian Cup will continue on Wednesday, October 28, with the individual epee fencing events; competitions are scheduled to start at 17:00. Thus, following the team sabre stage, the attention of spectators and athletes will shift to individual competition in the epee.
