On Wednesday, July 8, Ukrainian defenders recorded another victory in the skies. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) shot down a Russian military aircraft, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing a statement from the command.
"Good news from the Air Force! Today we took out another Russian air terrorist!" — representatives of the Ukrainian army stated, commenting on the incident.
A Series of Successful Operations Against Russian Aviation
This event continued a series of successful strikes against Russian aviation infrastructure in temporarily occupied Crimea. On the night of July 5, Ukrainian drones carried out a precision strike on the "Gvardeyskoye" military airfield. The facility is actively used by Russian troops for combat sorties, logistics, and technical maintenance of military equipment.
Even earlier, on the night of June 26, during a drone attack by the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) on the "Belbek" airfield, a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet was destroyed. This became one of the first confirmed cases of a fighter jet being destroyed during such operations.
Massive Strikes on the "Saki" Airfield
Particular attention was drawn to the attack that occurred on July 3. SBU drones struck the "Saki" military airfield for the second time in a week, as well as the hangars of the "Gvardeyskoye" airfield. According to available data, as a result of the operation at the "Saki" airfield, seven hangars storing aviation equipment were hit.
Among the destroyed or damaged equipment are Su-30SM and Su-30 fighter jets, as well as Su-24 front-line bombers. According to preliminary information, at least seven Russian aircraft were destroyed or damaged during this operation.

These actions demonstrate the growing effectiveness of Ukrainian forces in the fight against Russian aviation. Strikes on airfields not only inflict direct damage on combat aircraft but also disrupt the enemy's logistical chains, reducing their ability to conduct operational sorties.
