The situation on the front requires not only holding positions, but also active impact on the enemy's logistics and command. The Ukrainian Armed Forces demonstrate the ability to strike at significant depth, reaching 100 kilometers from the line of contact. This was stated in an interview with RBK-Ukraine by the commander of the 7th Air Assault Corps, Major General Yevhen Lasiychuk.
Mid-strike as standard equipment
The key element of the new tactic is the active use of medium-range unmanned aerial vehicles. General Lasiychuk confirmed that such systems have already become standard equipment for the corps composition.
"Let's take mid-strike and deep-strike strikes as an example for today: Moscow is burning — that's good! As for our corps composition and corps, our tool is mid-strike. It is standard equipment, we are already using it," noted the commander.
According to the general, this category of strikes is not a temporary measure, but a real and future tool for Ukrainian troops. It is expected that such a system will only grow and be implemented in every unit with each passing day.
Blocking routes and controlling depth
The main task of strikes at depth is to detect and destroy the enemy in the rear, as well as block his routes of advance. In particular, the troops are keeping under control the roads leading to Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad.
"What does it allow us to do? To detect and destroy more of the enemy in the rear, at certain distances in his depth. We are trying to block all his routes of advance that go to Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, we keep them fully under control," explained Lasiychuk.
The targets of the attacks are command posts, areas of concentration of equipment and manpower, as well as logistics hubs. Thanks to this, Ukrainian forces are able to disrupt supply chains and disorganize the management of enemy troops.
"Little secrets" of the weapon
The exact types and names of drones used for strikes at operational depth remain classified. As the general noted, the military "have their own little secrets" about this weapon. This allows maintaining an element of surprise and complicating the enemy's work in countering such attacks.
Results of strikes on infrastructure
The effectiveness of the new tactic is already confirmed by real results. On July 1–2, Ukrainian drones struck 12 substations and one gas distribution station in temporarily occupied territories. It took the Defense Forces only 48 hours to destroy these objects.
In addition, it was previously reported that Ukrainian military attacked eight of the ten largest oil refineries in Russia. Some of these enterprises have been targeted for strikes more than once, which indicates a systematic approach to destroying the enemy's energy and industrial infrastructure.
Thus, Ukrainian troops are not only holding the front, but also actively expanding their zone of influence, striking at the enemy's rear at a depth of up to 100 kilometers. This changes the rules of the game and forces the enemy to review its plans and strategies.
