UEFA has appointed a Ukrainian refereeing crew for the match of Matchday 1 of the league phase of the Europa League between Turin's Juventus and the Dutch side NEC. The match will be played in Turin. This is reported by Sport RBC.UA, citing the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) press service.

Appointment and crew composition

The main referee for the match is Alexey Derovensky (the source headline also uses the variant "Drevinsky"). He will be assisted by assistant referees Alexey Myronov and Dmytro Zaporozhenko. The role of fourth official will be performed by Klym Zabroda.

Video review system

The video assistant referee (VAR) duties for the match will be carried out by Ukrainian referee Denis Shurman and English referee Stuart Attwell.

Statistics for the current season

The Ukrainian referee has already officiated three matches of the current Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) season: Veres – Dynamo, Kharkiv – Obolon, and Kolos – Karpaty. In these matches he issued 15 yellow cards and awarded two penalties.

Experience in European competitions

Earlier in the current season, the referee also worked in European competitions – at the Conference League qualifying match Copenhagen – Inter (Turku). The Danish side won 4-1; in that game the referee awarded a penalty against Inter and showed three yellow cards.

Contradictory data

In the original source text, the name of the main referee is given in two different variants: in the lead paragraph – "Alexey Drevinsky", while in the main body – "Alexey Derovensky". The difference in the spelling of the surname makes it impossible to unambiguously confirm the correct form of the name. The remaining data on the crew composition (Myronov, Zaporozhenko, Zabroda, Shurman, Attwell) do not contradict each other in the source.

Context: other Ukrainian crews

It was previously reported that PSG's Champions League match against Slovan was also officiated by a Ukrainian refereeing crew led by Mykola Balakin. Thus, Ukrainian referees continue to regularly receive appointments for matches in the leading European tournaments.
