Power outage schedules will remain in effect across Ukraine on Thursday, November 5, according to RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement from the national energy company Ukrenergo. The company emphasized that measures to restrict electricity consumption will be applied compulsorily throughout the day, and their scale and duration depend on the dynamic state of the power grid.

Reason for Restrictions: Consequences of Attacks on Energy Infrastructure

Ukrenergo explained that the restrictions are being introduced due to the aftermath of massive Russian strikes on energy facilities. The company's statement noted that as a result of Russian shelling, the situation in the power system may change throughout the day. For this reason, the operator urged citizens to monitor up-to-date reports and outage schedules on the official pages of distribution system operators—the regional power utilities (oblenergo).

Context: What Happened in the Power Grid Previously

According to regional operators, as of November 4, strict outage schedules were in effect in a number of regions. In the Kyiv region, according to DTEK, restrictions affected all 12 queues, with some consumers lacking electricity for over 16 hours; Desnyansky District State Administration Head Maxim Bakhmatov reported that some residential buildings in Kyiv remained without power for about 37 hours. In Zaporizhzhia and the region, some queues were left without power for up to 13 hours. According to the Ministry of Energy, the most difficult situation persisted in the capital region, where serious damage to energy equipment was recorded, and due to attacks on power plants and substations, nuclear power plants were forced to reduce generation capacity. As of the morning of November 4, parts of consumers in Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions remained without power.

Call for Economical Consumption

Ukrenergo also appealed to all Ukrainians with a call to consume electricity economically after it is restored according to the schedule. The company noted that disciplined use of electricity during supply hours helps stabilize the operation of the power system under conditions of limited generating capacities.

How to Track Current Schedules

The operator reminded that accurate and up-to-date outage schedules are published on the official pages of distribution system operators (oblenergo) in each region. Since the state of the power system can change during the day due to ongoing shelling, citizens are advised to regularly check for updates on these resources rather than relying on previously published data.
