Pensioners and recipients of other social payments served by the state-owned "UkrEximBank" are facing the urgent need to switch financial institutions. As of October 1, 2026, the bank will cease cooperation with the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) regarding the accrual and payment of pensions.
Key deadlines and consequences
According to official information received from the Pension Fund of Ukraine, recipients have a limited window of time to resolve this issue. By September 15, 2026, it is necessary to submit an application to change the method of pension or other social assistance payment.
If the applicant fails to change the details by the established deadline, the mechanism for receiving funds will change automatically. Instead of a bank transfer, money will be delivered through branches of JSC "Ukrposhta".
Procedure for changing banks
To switch to service at another financial institution, the following steps must be taken:
- Open an account at another authorized bank. The PFU cooperates with numerous banks through which payments are made. The choice of a new institution remains with the pensioner.
- Submit an application to the Pension Fund. The document must specify the new bank details.
- Monitor deadlines. Confirmation of the change must be received by the fund before September 15 so that payments from October are credited to the new account.
Context and additional payments
Information about changing banks comes against the backdrop of news about possible pension supplements. It was previously reported that in August, certain categories of pensioners might receive an age-related surcharge of more than 519 hryvnias, which is assigned automatically upon reaching a certain age.
Media reports also mentioned possible supplements of up to 650 hryvnias for certain categories of citizens; however, these payments are regulated by separate conditions and are not directly related to the procedure for changing banks at UkrEximBank.
