Ukrzaliznytsia's passenger fleet has been expanded with three new carriages designed specifically for families with children. This is the result of a major partnership between the railway company and the payment system Visa. According to the carrier, the concept of these carriages is unique and has no analogues in the world, as it is designed taking into account the nuances of the needs of family travelers.
Fairy Tale Forest Atmosphere and Comfort Care
The main feature of the novelty is the thematic design that immerses passengers in the atmosphere of a fairy tale forest. However, this is not just decoration. The characters depicted on the carriage walls perform an important educational function: they teach children financial literacy. This approach allows a regular trip to turn into an engaging learning experience.
The Ukrzaliznytsia team emphasized that their goal is to give families a unique experience and emotions, thought out down to the smallest details. To ensure the comfort and safety of toddlers, a special children's menu has been developed. In the evening, the atmosphere is complemented by a traditional audio fairy tale, and a thematic bed is provided for sleeping.
Fares and Travel Rules
The cost of travel for adults in the new carriages corresponds to standard tariffs for carriages of a similar class. Children up to 13 years old inclusive travel on a children's ticket, which provides a discount. Infants are entitled to free travel.
An important nuance was the change in rules for the youngest. The conditions for free travel for toddlers without a separate seat now depend on the direction of the trip: the rules differ for routes within Ukraine and for international flights.
Scale of Fleet Update
With the commissioning of three new carriages, the company's fleet of specialized children's trains has grown to 16 units. They are already running on the country's most popular routes. This is a continuation of the modernization strategy that the carrier has been implementing for several seasons.
Previously, the company had already updated the fleet, adding modern carriages of domestic production on routes to Uzhhorod and Dnipro, providing passengers with compartments with new amenities. During the summer season, the network of adapted transport was expanded with specialized carriages with special entertainment.
Modernization has affected not only trains but also infrastructure in the regions. A bright example is the children's railway complex in Rivne, which, after a major update, launched a new stop, revised the schedule, and prepared collectible souvenirs for young visitors.
