Summer is the time for vacations, travels, and new experiences. For many Ukrainians, the train remains one of the most accessible and reliable ways to reach the sea, the Carpathians, or simply change scenery. Ukrzaliznytsia is already preparing passengers for the summer season: adjusting schedules, adding new routes, and optimizing the use of rolling stock.
The company doesn't just react to demand—it anticipates it. On routes with low occupancy, the number of wagons is reduced, while the freed-up trains are redirected to popular destinations. This helps avoid empty wagons while increasing capacity where passengers are waiting for tickets.
Seven New Daily Train Pairs
In the near future, seven new pairs of trains will be added to the daily schedule. This means passengers will have more options to choose convenient departure and arrival times. This is especially relevant for those planning trips on weekends or holidays.
Revival of a Legendary Route: Sumy — Rahiv
One of the most notable changes will be the resumption of train No. 143/144 «Sumy — Rahiv». This route will once again connect Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Severshchyna with the western part of the country. Now, residents of Sumy, Bile Pole, and Konotop will be able to reach the Carpathians without transfers—directly from their hometowns.
Additional Train: Kyiv — Chernivtsi
For those dreaming of Bukovyna, Ukrzaliznytsia is launching an additional train No. 227/228 «Kyiv — Chernivtsi». It will run every other day, passing through cities such as Zhytomyr, Rivne, Ternopil, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The train will include wagons of all classes: open-plan, compartments, and first class (SV). This is especially convenient for families and those who value comfort during travel.
Tickets Are Already on Sale
Sales of tickets for new routes will begin in accordance with their operating dates. Passengers are advised to follow official sources—the Ukrzaliznytsia website and app, as well as the company's social media. Tickets for popular routes sell out quickly, so it's best to book in advance.
Working Under War Conditions
Despite constant attacks on railway infrastructure and damage to rolling stock, railway workers continue to operate in full readiness mode. They do everything possible to ensure the safety and regularity of transportation. This is a true feat—and it deserves respect.
Tips for Passengers
- Book tickets as early as possible—especially for summer months.
- Keep an eye on schedule changes—they may be made at the last moment.
- Use filters when searching for tickets: you can select a specific wagon class or departure time.
- Don't forget about free services on trains—for example, the ability to bring a child up to a certain age without paying for a seat.
Summer 2025 will be a time of new opportunities for traveling across Ukraine. Ukrzaliznytsia is doing everything to ensure that every passenger can reach their destination quickly, safely, and comfortably. Are you already planning your trip?
