Summer heat at stations and on board is not a death sentence if you know how to choose the right train. "Ukrzaliznytsia" has carried out extensive work on its fleet so that passengers can travel comfortably even on the hottest days. By the start of the season, the company had prepared over a thousand carriages equipped with modern cooling systems.
Today, more than 70% of all carriages in service are air-conditioned. This is an impressive result achieved thanks to painstaking work in the depots throughout the spring. Engineers did not just check the equipment for faults but also refilled the refrigerants and modernized over 30 carriages that previously lacked climate control.
Technical Upgrade for Stability
Preparation for the season was not limited to checking air conditioners. To ensure the uninterrupted operation of on-board systems, high-capacity batteries were installed in 59 carriages. This is a critical update that guarantees stable power supply and cooling operation even in the event of possible interruptions in the overhead line.
Special attention was paid to comfortable categories: by summer, 933 sleeping carriages and 100 carriages of high-speed trains are fully ready. In total, this means that the overwhelming majority of passengers buying tickets for popular routes can expect coolness during the journey.
How to find a train with air conditioning?
Finding a comfortable seat has become easier thanks to convenient navigation. In the mobile app and on the carrier's website, carriages with air conditioning are marked with a special "snowflake" icon. This allows you to immediately filter out options without climate control when booking.
However, the carrier calls for realism: despite the extensive modernization, the shortage of rolling stock is still felt. It is currently impossible to meet peak demand exclusively with updated carriages, so passengers are advised to plan their trips in advance to have time to book seats with air conditioning.
