Lexus has announced a major update to its flagship LX SUV, which is essentially a luxury evolution of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The key addition for the home Japanese market is the long-awaited debut of the sporty F Sport trim, previously available exclusively outside of Japan. Now, brand fans in the country can purchase the performance-tuned variant with either a classic gasoline engine or an advanced hybrid powertrain, significantly expanding the lineup's appeal.
Exterior and Interior in Sporty Trim
Visually, the new LX F Sport stands out with an aggressive aerodynamic body kit, a redesigned radiator grille, and unique black 22-inch forged alloy wheels. Bright red brake calipers and the exclusive Neutrino Gray body color complete the athletic look. Inside, the vehicle greets the driver and passengers with bold Flare Red upholstery, sports seats, and Hadori aluminum decorative inserts whose pattern is inspired by traditional Japanese swords. Metal pedal covers and branded scuff plates emphasize the dynamic character of the car.
Engineering Improvements and Chassis
The company's engineers did not stop at design enhancements, seriously upgrading the SUV's technical side. For the F Sport, engineers developed unique calibrations for the AVS adaptive suspension, shock absorbers, and electric power steering, while a Torsen limited-slip differential was added to the rear axle for better traction distribution. Other versions of the SUV also received an optimized chassis for a balance of comfort and handling. The Overtrail+ off-road trim is now equipped with upgraded tires featuring reduced asphalt noise.
Powertrains and Prices in Japan
Under the hood, things remain unchanged: the gasoline LX 600 is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 415 hp, while the hybrid LX 700h delivers a combined 463 hp and 790 Nm of torque thanks to an electric motor. Both versions come paired with a 10-speed direct-shift automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive. In the Japanese market, the base LX 600 starts at 15.6 million yen, the F Sport version costs at least 17 million yen, the hybrid F Sport is priced from 18 million yen, and the flagship four-seat Executive remains the most expensive at 22.1 million yen.
