The seventh matchday of the 2026/2027 Ukrainian Premier League season has come to an end, and, as the Sport RBC.UA editorial team notes, this matchday stretched over three days and delivered several memorable moments. All eight matches were played, and based on their results, the publication traditionally compiled the symbolic team of the round. The week's schedule featured both narrow wins and high-scoring shootouts, as well as a rarest-of-rare goal in the Ukrainian top flight — one scored by a goalkeeper.
Three days of football: how the matchday unfolded
Polissya edged out Kryvbas thanks to a penalty by Igor Krasnopir, Dynamo wrapped up their win over Zarya in the second half, while Left Bank claimed their first victory of the season by beating Epicenter. On Sunday, Kudrivka and Kolos staged a high-scoring shootout that ended in a 3:2 win for Kudrivka. Karpaty and Veres drew 1:1, while Shakhtar comfortably dismantled LNZ, scoring three unanswered goals.
A goalkeeper's goal that will go down in history
The main event of the round's opening match was an episode that UPL fans are unlikely to forget anytime soon. Obolon goalkeeper Nazariy Fedorovskyy went into the opposition's penalty area during a corner in stoppage time and headed the ball to save his team from defeat in Odesa. According to Sport RBC.UA, this is only the second goal in the history of the Ukrainian top flight scored by a goalkeeper from open play (not from a penalty).
The symbolic XI and player of the round
Danylo Vereyitin, Nikita Maliugin, Andriy Kostenko and Kyrylo Krutorohov took part in the poll for the symbolic team of the round. The player of the round, according to the voting, can be considered Evhen Smyrnoy, who was included in every respondent's lineup. The 28-year-old midfielder scored a brace in the matchday, and although that was not enough to save his team from a 2:3 defeat, his performance was quite impressive.
Top scorers and the league table
After seven matchdays, the race for the Golden Boot is led by Igor Krasnopir of Polissya: the winning goal against Kryvbas was his fifth of the current championship. In the league table, Polissya and Shakhtar have an equal number of points and share first place, Karpaty sit third, and Dynamo fourth. Things are toughest for Obolon and Kudrivka. The next UPL matchday will take place on 10–11 October, following a nearly three-week international break.
Contradictory data
The original source contains an internal inconsistency that the XAB.info editorial team openly records. On the one hand, the text states that Evhen Smyrnoy "scored a brace against Kolos," while on the other hand it says "that did not help his team (a 2:3 defeat)." At the same time, the Kudrivka – Kolos match ended 3:2 in favor of Kudrivka, meaning it was Kolos that lost 2:3. This creates two mutually exclusive readings: either Smyrnoy plays for Kolos and his brace was scored against Kudrivka (in which case there is a typo in the opponent's name in the text), or he plays for Kudrivka and scored against Kolos (in which case his team could not have lost 2:3). In addition, the original contains the typo "a 3:2 win by the Kuzovs," which by context is meant to refer to Kudrivka. Until clarification is received from the original source, both versions are presented without selecting a "correct" one.
