The Rivne football club Veres has officially announced the signing of its first summer transfer ahead of the new season of the Ukrainian Premier League. The club's new recruit is 22-year-old Australian striker Nathaniel Blair.

According to information published on the club's official website, the contract with the promising forward is for three years. Notably, the transfer was completed as a free agent, as Blair's agreement with his previous employer expires in July.

A historic step for the Rivne team

This transfer holds special significance for the history of Veres. Nathaniel Blair has become the first Australian foreign player to ever represent the team from Rivne. Signing a contract with a player from Socceroos (Australian league) marks an expansion of the club's scouting geography.

In the official photo taken during the signing ceremony, Blair and club representatives show a handshake against a red-and-white wall with the team's logo. On the table in front of them lie new match kits, as well as the flags of Ukraine and the club, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter in the Australian's career.

Career before moving to Ukraine

Nathaniel Blair is a product of the Leichhardt club. He spent his entire professional career before moving to the continent in his native Australia, playing for several well-known teams in the local league. His resume includes Western Sydney Wanderers, Perth Glory, and Central Coast Mariners, for whom he played immediately before moving to Ukraine.

In addition to club achievements, Blair is considered one of the most talented strikers of his generation in Australian football. He has 8 caps and 5 goals for the Australian U-23 youth national team, confirming his scoring potential.

Veres' plans for the season

Last season of the Ukrainian championship, the Rivne club finished in 11th place in the UPL standings, earning 31 points. The team managed to keep its place in the elite, finishing just three points ahead of the relegation playoff zone. The signing of an experienced and technical striker from Australia is seen by the management as an important step towards strengthening the attacking potential.

The management of Veres does not plan to stop at what has been achieved. Scouting work continues: it is known that several potential new players are currently on trial with the team and could join the squad before the start of the new season.
