On July 1, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in general the draft law No. 15360, which provides for the creation of the Ukrainian National Pantheon. 287 People's Deputies voted in favor of the corresponding decision.
The Pantheon is intended to become a national memorial site for honoring outstanding Ukrainians. The law defines the rules for its creation and operation, including the procedure for conducting competitions, appointing a manager, and the procedure for making decisions on honoring. The document also establishes grounds on which such honoring will not be carried out.
Next steps
The law still needs to be signed by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. After that, it will be officially published and will enter into force within the timeframes established by the document.
Previously, RBK-Ukraine reported that it was Volodymyr Zelenskyy who submitted the draft law on the "Ukrainian National Pantheon" to the Rada. The Head of the Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov, immediately explained the main goal of this decision.
Reaction from abroad
The team of the leader of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, has already considered the "escalation" in Zelenskyy's decision regarding the Pantheon.
