A fundamental decision has been made in Kyiv to create a new state award aimed at recognizing those who contribute to Ukraine's integration into the European Union. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the draft law on the establishment of the Order of Europe in the first reading.
274 People's Deputies voted in favor of the document. The initiative received the support of the parliamentary majority, indicating the high priority of the European vector in state policy.
Who will be awarded the Order of Europe
According to the text of the draft law, the new award is intended for both Ukrainian citizens and foreign citizens. The criteria for awarding the order are clearly formulated and cover a wide range of merits:
- Outstanding personal merits in supporting Ukraine's course towards full membership in the EU;
- Significant contribution to strengthening the resilience of the state;
- Protection of the security of all of Europe;
- Strengthening international cooperation.
Thus, the order will recognize not only politicians but also those who work in practice to bring Ukraine closer to European institutions and strengthen continental security.
New traditions in the system of incentives
The establishment of the Order of Europe is not the only innovation in Ukraine's system of state awards. Previously, the honorary distinction 'Community Savior' (Hromada-Spasitel) appeared in the country. It is intended to award entire territorial communities for courage and assistance to frontline territories.
These steps demonstrate the state's desire to reward both individual merits in the field of international integration and the collective efforts of citizens in the face of current challenges.
