Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has claimed victory in the sprint qualifying session at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. The Dutch driver continues his strong run of form over recent weekends, outpacing competitors from Mercedes and Ferrari despite facing several technical hurdles.

Overcoming technical difficulties

Throughout Friday, Verstappen had to battle not only rival drivers but also car troubles. Right before the sprint qualifying session, a malfunction occurred in the Energy Recovery System (ERS) on his car. Earlier, during the first and only practice session of the Singapore Grand Prix, he spent about half of the session without team radio communication.

In his decisive final run, Max managed to secure pole position, narrowly beating Mercedes driver George Russell, who finished second. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc rounded out the top three in third place. Meanwhile, World Championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli managed only the seventh-fastest time.
