Ukrainian singer VIRA (Vera Brezhneva) has unveiled her new single "I Didn't Finish" ("Ne Dogovorila") and the accompanying music video. The track is the third release from the upcoming album "Syaiivo" ("Glow") and simultaneously the artist's first original composition in the Ukrainian language. The song is now available on all major streaming platforms, while the video has been published on YouTube. For VIRA, this release holds special significance: it was with writing this song that the concept of the entire album began to take shape, making it not just another single but the starting point of a new creative chapter.
The Birth of the Lyrics: From an Airplane to Self-Irony
The musical concept of the single was developed together with producer Misha Gaidai, while VIRA wrote the lyrics herself. According to the artist, the composition grew out of reflections on relationships and the female fear of openly speaking about one's feelings for fear of seeming "inconvenient." "The main phrase shone in the airplane, when I was listening to music in my headphones — I felt a playful mood, and that's how the phrase 'I didn't finish' came about," the singer explained. She emphasizes that behind the humorous form lies a more serious theme: "It's a sharp joke about myself and about us, women: if I haven't finished saying something, you'd better not touch me." VIRA notes that she decided to express what she had previously been afraid to, and that the combination of sincere truth with self-irony gives rise to "real magic."
The Video as a "Taming of the Shrew" from a Female Perspective
The video was directed by Leonid Kolosovsky, for whom this is the first collaboration with VIRA. Kolosovsky describes the video's concept as an "aristocratic comedy": the frames feature luxurious interiors, boudoirs, blooming gardens, and romantic imagery. In his words, the song immerses the viewer in a story where "a cult woman insistently imposes the aesthetic of love on him, the way a girl imagined romance." The director directly compares the plot to a musical version of "The Taming of the Shrew," but from the heroine's point of view rather than the hero's. "It turned out to be a genuine genre comedy that inspired the whole team," Kolosovsky added, noting that the team managed to "feel each other out and enjoy the process."
Ukrainian Brands on Camera
Particular attention deserves the costume design of the project: all the looks for the video shoot were created by Ukrainian brands. Thus, the release not only became VIRA's personal creative statement in Ukrainian but also a platform for showcasing the domestic fashion segment. The visual range — from headwear to light, sheer fabrics visible in the boudoir and garden locations — is kept within a unified pastel palette, underlining the aristocratic yet ironic tone of the story.

The single "I Didn't Finish" takes third place in the series of releases preceding the album "Syaiivo." At the same time, VIRA emphasizes that this very composition was the first one from which the creation of the album began — that is, the chronology of writing and the chronology of publication diverge here: the song was the "zeroth" in the creative process but the third in the public cycle.
