The football world continues to discuss the results of the 2026 World Cup, but the tournament's main hero, Cape Verde goalkeeper José Carlos Vozinha, has already found a new home. The 40-year-old goalkeeper, who became a global star in just one match, will continue his career at Chile's most decorated club, Colo-Colo.

From Unattached Status to Chilean Giant

Vozinha's path to his new team was not easy. He started the World Cup without a club, as his contract with the Portuguese second-division team Chaves had expired. However, fate had other plans: in the very first match of the tournament, the goalkeeper performed a feat by not conceding a single goal against the Spanish national team (score 0:0). This match made him a household name.

Now a new chapter opens in the goalkeeper's life. Colo-Colo president Aníbal Mosa officially confirmed the transfer:

"Vozinha will be a player of Colo Colo. In the coming days, he will travel to Chile, undergo standard medical examinations, and then be presented here at the Monumental stadium".

Mosa noted that his performances at the 2026 World Cup proved that Vozinha deserves a move to a top club. At the same time, the president acknowledged that signing the contract also has high marketing appeal for the team.

This is an unprecedented result: Vozinha has become the most popular goalkeeper in Instagram history. Previously, leadership in this category was held by the legendary Spaniard Iker Casillas, who is followed by 20.4 million users.
