August 19, 2026. In the night of August 19, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a large-scale series of strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (GSU) confirmed in its official statement on its Telegram channel the destruction of a number of critically important military objects. In particular, Ukrainian forces attacked three large unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) warehouses, communication and control nodes, as well as a strategic bridge ensuring the enemy's logistics.

Details of the night operation and damaged objects

According to the General Staff report, the strikes were carried out with high precision, resulting in significant damage to infrastructure used to prepare sabotage and reconnaissance operations. The list of damaged targets includes three warehouses where UAVs were stored, as well as control points coordinating the operation of these drones. The destruction or damage of such objects deals a direct blow to the ability of the Russian armed forces to conduct reconnaissance and carry out targeted strikes in the frontline zone.

Special attention in the report is paid to the destruction of a transport bridge. The destruction or blocking of bridge crossings is critical for disrupting logistical chains, making it difficult to transfer equipment and personnel to the necessary sectors. This confirms Ukraine's strategy of striking rear infrastructure to weaken the enemy's offensive potential.

Context: Escalation of strikes on the aggressor's rear

The current series of attacks is a continuation of the intensive phase of counter-offensive operations in the enemy's rear. Earlier, in the night of August 18, Ukrainian forces had already struck an ammunition depot and drone control points. Even earlier, on August 16, the "Kamensky Combine" enterprise in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Rostov region, was hit, indicating an expansion of the geography of attacks on industrial centers linked to the military-industrial complex.

Experts note that since the beginning of August 2026, Ukrainian drones have attacked about a third of Russia's major oil refineries. According to analysts, 10 out of 34 major refineries were hit. This indicates systematic work to undermine the economic base financing military actions and creates a shortage of fuel and lubricants for the Russian army.

Contradictory data

Although the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the fact of the strikes and listed the types of damaged targets, details about the scale of destruction remain a subject of discussion. Russian official sources often minimize the damage, claiming "local fires" or "successful air defense work," while the Ukrainian side and independent satellite images may indicate more serious consequences.

In particular, regarding the attack on the "Kamensky Combine" and oil refineries, there are discrepancies in assessing the degree of equipment damage. While Ukraine claims the shutdown of key installations, Russian industrial reports may indicate a rapid restoration of operability. At the moment, independent fact-checking confirms the fact of attacks, but the exact figures of economic losses remain hidden.
