The son of famous Ukrainian actors Anatoly Khostikoev and Natalia Sumskaya — 29-year-old Vyacheslav Khostikoev — spoke openly about his personal life, the story of how he met his wife, and the principles that help them maintain harmony in their marriage in an interview with RBK-Ukraine LIFE.
A love story that began with a failure
Vyacheslav admitted that their love story began back in their student days at the theater institute. At that time, they were supposed to perform an etude together, but it failed. According to the actor, it was precisely this moment that became the turning point.
"After the etude, she got emotional and felt awkward. For some reason, she decided she had to apologize to me, although there was no need for it. I saw her eyes, she hugged me, and my heart just... skipped a beat," he shared.
Admiration and support
The actor does not hide his feelings for his wife — actress Anastasia Rule. He admires her personality, beauty, and creative achievements.
"She is so well-bred, so beautiful, such a talented woman. She is growing and developing. How she has blossomed now, how she has also caught fire with this profession, what great roles she has! And she wants to work more. It is pleasant for me to see her on screen. I am very lucky to have her," Vyacheslav noted.
The rule of separating work and life
Separately, Vyacheslav talked about how he and his wife combine work and personal life. They adhere to an important rule: they come home, relax, and do not discuss work.
"We understand how important this is. It can't be just work all the time. We need to distinguish between everything and rest," he said.
Professional understanding and lack of criticism
Although their shared profession helps them understand each other better, Vyacheslav emphasized that there is no place for professional criticism in their marriage.
"I have no right to criticize. Maybe I can give advice somewhere. Yes, Nastya advises me, I advise her. Rather, I would prefer to hear the opinion of someone else," he noted.
In the actor's opinion, one needs to understand where it is appropriate to share one's thoughts and where it is not. "I generally do not interfere in the lives of other people. That person's acting business is their business. Moreover, there is a director, there are other people who have the right and opportunity to point out certain nuances. If we are talking about me now, I am always interested," he explained.
In the interview, Vyacheslav also touched upon other topics: his relationship with his sister in the Russian Federation, voice actors' fees, and the reasons why he does not communicate with his aunt Olga Sumskaya.
