Walking a dog is not only a pleasure for the owner and the pet, but also a serious responsibility. The Patrol Police of Kyiv reminded Ukrainians of the correct way to walk animals to avoid legal problems and ensure safety on the streets.
Safety during the night
One of the key requirements of the police is the use of reflective elements. The department strongly recommends putting reflective collars or special keychains on dogs, especially during evening walks.
"For the safety of the four-legged friend, put a reflective collar on it," advise law enforcement officers. This simple action allows drivers to notice the animal from 300 meters away, which is critical for preventing traffic accidents in conditions of poor visibility.
Who can walk a dog?
The police have clearly defined the age limit: a domestic animal during a walk can only be accompanied by a person who has reached the age of 14. If the child is younger, they must be under the supervision of adults. This rule is designed to eliminate situations where children cannot control the behavior of large or active animals.
What is strictly prohibited?
Law enforcement officers listed actions that are strictly prohibited:
- Walking dogs without a leash in public places.
- Leaving an animal unattended.
- Bathing and washing dogs on the streets, in parks, and on embankments.
"Follow the rules and do not put your pets in danger," the police concluded, reminding that violation of the norms may entail administrative liability.
Context: legislation and fines
Recall that in Ukraine there is already an official list of animals whose keeping at home is prohibited. In addition, the legislation provides for specific fines for owners who violate walking rules. It is also worth considering the updated EU rules for entry with animals from Ukraine, where requirements for documents have been tightened.
