In the conditions of modern warfare, where electronic warfare has become one of the main factors of success, the Ukrainian company Roboneers has presented a solution to a critical communications problem — the Wardog TRN unmanned aerial vehicle. This is not a reconnaissance or strike aircraft, but a specialized relay drone created to ensure stable radio communication, telemetry, and video streaming in areas where powerful enemy jammers or difficult terrain make the operation of ground-based systems impossible.
Drone as a Mobile Communication Tower
The main task of the Wardog TRN is to deploy a mobile radio network directly in the air. When ground antennas cannot penetrate the signal through dense urban development, thick forests, or hilly terrain, the drone rises to a height of up to 900 meters and begins to work as a powerful repeater. It creates a protected digital corridor through which data is transmitted without delays to operators and other unmanned aerial vehicles.
The device uses a protected digital channel at a frequency of 2.4 GHz, which allows it to work effectively even in conditions of active counteraction. Flight stability is ensured by an advanced optical inertial navigation system. It allows the drone to orient itself in space day and night using internal sensors and algorithms, even if the enemy has completely suppressed GPS satellite navigation.
Comprehensive Solution: Wardog Scout + Wardog TRN
Wardog TRN was developed as a technological addition to the first drone in the line — Wardog Scout. Together they form a single closed loop for units on the front line. The Scout model conducts classic observation: it fixes objects in the visible and infrared spectra and transmits the image in 4K thanks to a camera with a powerful zoom. At the same time, the TRN model holds a protected digital corridor over the battlefield, through which heavy optical information is transmitted without delays to operators and neighboring strike quadcopters.
This approach allows reconnaissance aircraft to be deployed to maximum range without the risk of losing control due to electronic countermeasures. Both unmanned aerial vehicles are based on a common platform, which significantly simplifies logistics, repair, and crew training.
Availability for the Army
Units of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine already have the opportunity to officially order Scout and Wardog TRN complexes. The equipment has been added to the state technology marketplace Brave1 Market, where it can be purchased with e-points. This makes the innovative solution accessible to a wide range of users and accelerates its implementation in combat formations.
Developers' Experience
The company Roboneers is known not only for its unmanned aerial vehicles. Previously, they successfully integrated the well-known remote combat module Sabla MK-19 onto their ground tracked platform Volya-E, which underwent a full cycle of firing tests at the ranges. This experience made it possible to create reliable and effective solutions for various tasks on the battlefield.
