Heat up to +37° in the southeast and rain in the north: what the weather will be like in Ukraine on August 23

Today, August 23, hot weather persists across Ukraine, although its intensity varies significantly by region. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, as reported by RBC-Ukraine, intense heat of up to +37° is expected in the southeast of the country, while in the west and north the air will warm up to only +21–26°. Thus, there will be no uniform temperature background across the entire territory: from a cool north to an anomalously hot southeast.

Heat up to +37° in the southeast

The greatest thermal load will be felt in the southeastern part of Ukraine. There, the thermometer will rise to +35…+37° during the day, which corresponds to the "severe heat" category. In the rest of the country, daytime values will be +27…+32°. On such days, meteorologists traditionally advise limiting time spent in the open sun and maintaining proper hydration.

North and west: cooler and without precipitation

In the western, northern, and Vinnytsia regions it will be noticeably cooler during the day — from +21° to +26°. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, no precipitation is expected during the day in the northern regions, making the weather more comfortable compared to the south and southeast of the country.

Morning thunderstorms in the central regions

In the morning, brief rain showers and thunderstorms will occur in places across most of the central regions, as well as in Odesa and Mykolaiv oblasts. According to the forecast, these phenomena will not develop into sustained downpours and will give way to dry weather by the afternoon.

Kyiv and the region: variable cloudiness

In Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, variable cloudiness is expected on August 23, with no precipitation during the day. The temperature background in the capital will match the general forecast for the northern regions of the country.
