Weather in Ukraine: From Cool Nights and Thunderstorms to Comfortable Summer — Forecast from Meteorologists

In the coming days, the weather in Ukraine will be unstable: short-term rains, thunderstorms, and cool nights are expected. However, by mid-week, the situation will begin to change — precipitation will decrease, and air temperatures will return to comfortable summer levels. This was stated in a brief interview with RBC-Ukraine by Ivan Semylit, a meteorologist from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.

Unstable Weather Against the Background of a Northern Cyclone

Over the next few days, the synoptic situation over Ukraine will not change significantly. The cause of instability will be an area of low atmospheric pressure coming from the north, along with associated atmospheric fronts.

These will cause periodic precipitation of varying intensity — from light to moderate rain, often accompanied by isolated thunderstorms. At night, precipitation is expected mainly locally, while during the day it will occur almost everywhere. This is due to the intensification of convection after the moist air mass warms up.

Temperature Background: From +9°C in the West to +28°C in the South

The temperature regime in the coming days will be uneven across the country. The lowest values are recorded in western Ukraine, while in the south and east, the air will warm up more.

Night temperatures will range from +9°C to +17°C. During the day, in most regions, thermometer readings will rise to +17...+25°C, and in the south and east — up to +28°C. This pattern will persist for the next three days — from July 11 to 13.

Weather Improvement Starting July 14

The situation will begin to change from July 14–15. Short-term rains with thunderstorms may still occur in some places, but on the night of July 15, the weather will be mostly without precipitation. Night temperatures will rise to +13...+19°C, and daytime temperatures — to +21...+28°C.

The advisory forecast for July 16–20 indicates a trend toward improvement: the weather will be mostly without precipitation. Exceptions are July 16 — when short-term rains with thunderstorms are expected in western and southwestern regions, and July 20 — when precipitation is possible in the far west of the country.
