Ukraine is meeting June 4 with changeable weather: after yesterday's cooling, temperatures will rise to comfortable levels, but precipitation will remain an integral part of the day. Meteorologists forecast short-term rains across the country, and in the west — thunderstorms with a yellow danger level declared.

Temperature contrast: from +16°C to +27°C

According to the forecast of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, as reported by RBC-Ukraine, daytime air temperatures in most regions will be +22…+27°C. The warmest days are expected in the south of the country — there thermometers may show up to +27°C. In Kyiv, it will be +22…+23°C during the day, and +13…+15°C at night.

In the west and north of Ukraine, it will be cooler: +18…+23°C. Especially low temperatures are forecast in Zakarpattia and Kharkiv region — only +16…+19°C.

Rains, thunderstorms and fog

Short-term rains will pass over the entire territory of Ukraine. A light rain is expected in Kyiv. In the western regions, moderate rains with thunderstorms are possible during the day — it is there that the Hydrometeorological Center has declared the first level of danger (yellow).

At night and in the morning, fog is possible in places in the south and in the Carpathians. The wind will be blowing from the southeast, with a speed of 5–10 m/s.

Consequences of May instability

May weather has already caused damage to agriculture: gusts, hail, and plant diseases have damaged crops, fruit trees, and vegetable crops in several districts. This highlights the importance of accurate weather forecasts for farmers and the population.

Global context: El Niño and extreme phenomena

In a broader context, the UN World Meteorological Organization has warned that the arrival of El Niño could lead to heatwaves and extreme weather events around the world as early as this summer. Ukraine is no exception: climate instability requires readiness for sudden changes.
