On Friday, September 25, 2026, the weather situation in Ukraine will noticeably ease after several days of heavy precipitation. According to meteorologist and forecaster Nataliya Dydenko, the cyclone that has been bringing intense rains to many regions of the country in recent days is gradually moving away, giving way to more stable anticyclonic weather. The expert emphasized that on Friday, precipitation is expected only in isolated areas and mostly of a light nature, with even sunny breaks possible in some regions.

Cyclone moves away: what is happening in the atmosphere

According to Dydenko's explanations, the shift of the cyclone means a transition from wet, cool, and windy weather to a calmer regime. The forecaster noted that on September 25, rain may occur only in individual regions and will be predominantly light. This means that the prolonged downpours and local flooding characteristic of the previous day will most likely cease.

Forecast for September 25: day and night

The daytime air temperature on Friday, according to Dydenko, will be around +15…+19°C — a noticeable increase compared to the previous days. In the western regions of Ukraine, the weather will be somewhat warmer than the national average. However, the night hours will remain cool: across almost the entire country, temperatures will drop to +5…+10°C. The forecaster humorously advised Ukrainians to prepare "warm blankets, warm pajamas, throws, and fluffy cats."

Kyiv and the next 24 hours in the capital

In Kyiv, warming is also expected on September 25. According to Dydenko, precipitation is unlikely in the city itself, though light rain is possible at times in the surrounding region. According to the forecast chart from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, on September 26 and 27, the daytime temperature in the capital may reach an average of around +19°C, while nighttime values will fluctuate between +9…+10°C. Thus, Kyiv residents will enjoy a full three days without significant precipitation and with comfortable daytime temperatures.

The next three days: September 26–27

The synoptic situation in Ukraine over the weekend, according to the UkrGMetsTs forecast, will continue to improve. On average across the country, air temperatures will correspond to the climatic norm for late September. In the southern and eastern regions, experts forecast daytime values of up to +15°C on September 26–27. No precipitation is expected in most regions on these days, confirming the stable nature of the anticyclonic influence.

Arctic background and the first snow in the Carpathians

Despite the overall warming, the Arctic component of the air masses continues to manifest itself in the mountainous areas. It was previously reported that cold Arctic air was intruding from the northwest: the first snow fell in the Carpathians, and temperatures in the highlands dropped to −3°C. Dydenko, however, reminded that "there is still a lot of green grass, green leaves on the bushes and trees, and we are still very far from complete darkness and treacherous ice," which allays concerns about the premature onset of winter conditions in the flat parts of the country.
