Ukrainians should be prepared for a sudden change in the climate scenario. After a period of anomalous heat, which set new temperature records in early May, a powerful atmospheric front is approaching the country. Forecasters from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warn: as early as Tuesday, May 26, the weather will change radically.

Wind, rain, and thunderstorms

The main impact will be felt in the middle of the week. On Tuesday, the sky will be covered with variable cloudiness, and in most regions, except for Zakarpattia, dangerous wind gusts are expected. The speed of air currents may reach 15–20 m/s, which will require residents to exercise extreme caution outdoors.

The situation will worsen on Wednesday and Thursday, May 27–28. On these days, rain will become more widespread, covering a significant part of the country's territory. Experts clarify that precipitation may be accompanied by thunderstorms, and the wind will continue to blow from the northwest at a speed of 7–12 m/s, with the risk of strong gusts remaining.

Temperature drop

The main indicator of the weather change will be a decrease in temperature. According to meteorologists, thermometer readings will drop by 3–5 degrees compared to previous days. At night, the temperature will be +9...+16°C, and during the day the air will warm up only to +18...+26°C. The only exceptions are Zakarpattia and the southern regions, where the thermometer may rise to +29°C.

Situation in Kyiv

The capital and Kyiv region will not be an exception to the general forecast. Kyiv is also expected to have variable cloudiness and a northwesterly wind. During the day, dangerous gusts up to 15–20 m/s are possible in the city, which will require increased vigilance from municipal services and residents.

Thus, the short-lived "summer" in May has ended, and the country is preparing for typical spring weather cataclysms. Residents are advised to follow forecast updates and avoid being under trees and advertising structures on days of storm warnings.
