On November 5, cloudy weather prevails in Ukraine, with thermometers dropping to +9°. At the same time, forecasters do not predict precipitation: the day remains mostly dry, despite a noticeable cooling compared to the relatively warm October. This scenario is characteristic of the transition to the colder phase of November, when air masses begin to shift toward moderate and cool values.

Kyiv and the region: cloudy with sunny intervals

In the capital and Kyiv region, variable cloudiness with sunny intervals is expected on November 5, with no precipitation. The weather remains dry, distinguishing the current day from the beginning of the month, when, according to a number of synoptic services, rain and the first signs of wetter weather were recorded in the western, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, and Odesa regions. Thus, by the middle of the first ten days of November, precipitation in the region is receding, giving way to cloudy skies without rain.

Regional context: what meteorologists say

At the regional level, November 2026 generally falls within the climatic norm. For instance, according to the forecast of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Hydrometeorological Center, the average monthly air temperature in Zaporizhzhia will be about +3.7 °C with precipitation of about 38 mm, which almost coincides with multi-year values (+3.8 °C and about 42 mm). In the first days of November, daytime temperatures in some areas still rose to +14…+16 °C, but subsequently, an influx of colder air and a gradual decrease in indicators are expected.

Winter: anomalous cold or warmer than normal?

Of particular note is the question of whether an anomalously cold winter, similar to last year's, will repeat in Ukraine. Vira Balabukh, head of the Department of Applied Meteorology and Climatology at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute, explained that the winter might turn out to be 1–2 degrees warmer than the climatic norm. At the same time, she emphasized that this does not exclude episodes of severe frost: local cold invasions are possible even within an overall warmer season.

Prospects for the end of autumn

Further weather dynamics in November, according to forecasters' estimates, are associated with a gradual transition from rain to wet snow and lower temperatures. Individual forecasts for the second half of the month mention a temperature drop to negative values, including marks around minus 5 degrees. Thus, November 5 becomes a turning point: dry cooling with cloudiness is giving way to a more pronounced winter trend, which climatologists generally consider moderate, but with a risk of local frosty episodes.
