Ukraine is facing a sharp change in weather conditions in the coming days. An active atmospheric front coming from Western Europe will literally divide the country into two parts: some regions will experience cooling with gusts and thunderstorms, while others will continue to enjoy summer-like warm weather.
Specialists from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center (UkrGMC) have warned about the beginning of an intense development of the synoptic situation. As meteorologist Ivan Semylit noted in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, the front will move meridionally — from north to south, gradually shifting eastward and covering the entire territory of the country.
Friday, June 12: the beginning of the storm
The most active precipitation is expected as early as tomorrow, June 12. At night, the front will begin to affect the western regions, where significant rain is forecast. During the day, the bad weather will shift to the center of the country, affecting Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, and Odesa regions.
During these days, a constant change of air masses is expected: the southeast wind will be replaced by a northwest wind. Behind the front, cool air will arrive, displacing the heat from the western border.
The meteorologist clarified the temperature indicators:
- In the west, the temperature at night will drop to +9...+14°C, and during the day it will warm up to +15...+20°C.
- In most other regions, the temperature at night will be +13...+18°C, and during the day thermometers will show +24...+29°C.
Ivan Semylit refuted rumors of a sharp drop in temperatures to +7 degrees. According to him, it is only about a comfortable decrease and the arrival of "fresh" weather after the passage of the front.
Weekend: rain and thunderstorms
On Saturday, June 13, the atmospheric front will begin to weaken, but the rain will continue. At night, precipitation is expected in the northern and central regions, and during the day — on the Left Bank and in the west. Warmth will remain in the southeast and east of the country: during the day, thermometer columns will rise to +24...+29°C.
On Sunday, June 14, short-term rain with thunderstorms is forecast at night in the west and east, and during the day — almost throughout the territory, with the exception of the southeast. The temperature background on this day will be lower: at night +9...+14°C, during the day +19...+24°C.
Beginning of the week: the weather remains unstable
The beginning of the next week, June 15 and 16, also does not promise to be completely dry. Locally, short-term rain with thunderstorms will continue to fall, however, the air temperature will fluctuate insignificantly. In the future, the weather will remain unstable with periodic precipitation.
