Ukrainian retailers have updated price tags on basic food items. As of Wednesday, July 8, the shelves show a mixed picture: stability is observed in some areas, while in others there are noticeable fluctuations in cost. Analysts are paying particular attention to the price dynamics of eggs and vegetable oil.
RBC-Ukraine has prepared a current overview of the cost of social products in the country's largest chains. To ensure an objective comparison, only the most budget-friendly offers in the respective categories, published on the retailers' official websites, were selected at each store (ATB, "Silpo", Novus, and "Auchan").
Bakery products: return of affordable items
In the bread category, the main change was the appearance of a cheaper item in Auchan's assortment. The chain has returned "Formula of Taste" bread weighing 350 g to the shelves at a price of 14.50 hryvnias. The day before, the most budget-friendly option in this chain was a half-loaf of wheat bread costing 21.30 hryvnias. In other major chains, the situation with bread prices remains stable.
Eggs and cereals: price leveling
Prices for C1 category chicken eggs have shown divergent dynamics across different chains. In the buckwheat segment, the situation has stabilized: the significant price contrast observed earlier due to temporary promotional offers has disappeared. As of July 8, the cost of a kilogram of buckwheat in all supermarkets has become almost identical and remains within the standard range of 65 to 70 hryvnias.
Dairy products and butter
Prices for pasteurized milk in small packages of 400–450 g remain almost identical in most chains. The exception is the ATB chain, where a minimal increase in cost was recorded. In the category of sunflower oil (0.5 l bottles), supermarkets predominantly maintained Tuesday's prices, with the exception of the ATB chain, which also adjusted the product's cost.
