Microsoft has released a major scheduled security update for Windows 11, marking one of the most significant releases in recent times. The update package, distributed under the index KB5094126 (builds 26200.8655 and 26100.8655), aims to radically improve interface responsiveness and resolve "chronic" issues that users of the operating system have been facing.
Revolution in response speed
The main innovation of the June patch is a special low-latency profile. Previously, when opening menus or launching programs, the central processor gradually increased its clock frequency, leading to noticeable interface lag. Now, the operating algorithm has changed: at the moment of clicking an icon, the processor instantly boosts its frequency to the maximum for 1–3 seconds. This creates the necessary performance headroom for fast rendering, after which the frequency drops back to the base level.
This mode is being rolled out gradually and will not be activated for all users simultaneously. You can check its operation in "Task Manager" or via third-party utilities like HWiNFO64 by monitoring short-term processor frequency spikes when opening the "Start" menu, "Notification Center," or the built-in search.
Fixing "chronic" issues
Developers have addressed a number of problems that users have complained about for a long time. In particular, the Windows Store performance has been fixed: the process of downloading and installing applications has become faster, eliminating slow loading anomalies even with high-speed internet.
The built-in Windows search has been significantly improved. The system now starts displaying the first relevant results after entering just two characters in the search bar, which greatly facilitates launching programs via the keyboard. Additionally, future public builds will include the ability to completely clear the "Start" menu interface by disabling all blocks if the user prefers minimalism.
New tools for work
The June update introduces a range of features useful for daily work and entertainment:
- Multi-camera mode: The OS now supports simultaneous camera operation in multiple programs. This allows, for example, participating in a Zoom video conference while using the camera in another application at the same time.
- Shared Audio: The ability to stream audio from the computer simultaneously to two pairs of wireless headphones supporting Bluetooth LE technology has been added.
- Renaming the user folder: With a clean OS installation, users can finally set an arbitrary name for their root folder in the system directory.
- AI Monitoring: "Task Manager" now includes tools for monitoring the load on the neural processing unit (NPU) for computers equipped with dedicated AI chips.
Security in the AI era
The most extensive changes have occurred at the system architecture level. Microsoft has patched 206 security vulnerabilities, a significant portion of which were rated as critical or dangerous. Among the fixes, the patch with index CVE-2026-45657 stands out. This is a kernel-level vulnerability that allowed the remote execution of malicious code and had a critical threat rating of 9.8 out of 10.
The company notes that such a large number of found and closed bugs is related to the active use of AI tools. Both independent researchers and hackers are using artificial intelligence to automate the search for vulnerabilities on an industrial scale. This is why developers are accelerating the release of security patches and acting proactively.
