The organizers of the 2026 WTA Finals have announced the prize money for the tournament, which will be held this season in Indian Wells, USA. According to the Women's Tennis Association's official website, the total prize pool will amount to $10 million, with $8 million allocated to singles and $2 million to doubles. Guaranteed payments have already been set for the Ukrainian tennis players representing the country at the tournament: Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk will receive at least $220,000 and $100,000 respectively, reports Sport RBC.UA, citing the WTA.
Prize money reduced by $5.5 million
Compared to the previous season, when the WTA Finals were hosted in Riyadh, the total prize pool has decreased significantly. In 2025, organizers allocated $15.5 million for the competition, while in 2026, the sum is $10 million—a reduction of $5.5 million. Despite the budget cuts, the top of the tournament ladder still offers high payouts: the singles champion who wins all five matches could earn $3.37 million, while an undefeated doubles pair will receive $725,000 combined.
Svitolina: From $220,000 guaranteed to a record $3.37 million
Elina Svitolina will represent Ukraine in the WTA Finals 2026 singles draw. For participating in the group stage, the player is guaranteed $220,000, provided she completes all three matches regardless of the outcome. Each group stage victory will earn her an additional $230,000. Reaching the final comes with another $820,000 in prize money, and the champion's bonus is $2.46 million. Thus, if she wins all her matches, Svitolina can earn a maximum of $3.37 million, which represents the top limit for singles payouts.
Kostyuk to arrive as an alternate participant
The second Ukrainian at the tournament is Marta Kostyuk, who will officially arrive in Indian Wells as an alternate for the singles draw. If the player does not play any matches and does not replace any of the main draw participants, she is guaranteed a payment of $100,000. If she takes the court, the prize money will increase in accordance with the number of matches played and their results. It was previously reported that Svitolina has already learned her opponents for the group stage of the season finale.
Context and significance for Ukrainian tennis
The announcement of the prize money sets the financial framework for a competition where two Ukrainian tennis players are vying for significant payouts. Even without taking victories into account, Svitolina and Kostyuk are guaranteed six-figure sums, and with a successful streak in the group stage and playoffs, Svitolina's potential earnings reach the $3.37 million mark. The Indian Wells tournament will be a key event of the season for both athletes and will conclude the competitive year in women's professional tennis.
