The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) has published the updated singles world rankings following the conclusion of the tournament week. The main takeaway for Ukrainian tennis is that the country's two leading athletes retained their positions in the global top ten, alongside a new personal best for Daria Snigur. The ranking data, dated October 12, 2026, has been confirmed by several specialized publications referencing the official WTA standings.

Top 10 Unchanged: Svitolina in the Top Six and WTA Finals Berth

In the top ten of the updated WTA rankings, the positions of Ukrainian tennis players remained unchanged. Ukraine's top-ranked player Elina Svitolina continues to hold the sixth spot in the world standings — according to experts, this is her best position in the last five years. A key event of the week for Svitolina was reaching the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan, which guaranteed her participation in the season's WTA Finals. Marta Kostyuk confidently holds the tenth position, keeping her place in the top 10 without losses.

Daria Snigur at a New Personal Height

Ukraine's third-ranked player Daria Snigur updated her personal best in the world rankings following the week's events. After her performance at the tournament in Wuhan, she climbed to the 40th spot in the world standings, improving her previous achievement by two positions. This result cements Snigur's status as one of the most progressive Ukrainian tennis players of the current season and underlines the steady growth of her form at high-level tournaments.

Other Ukrainian Players in the Top 100

There are currently six representatives of Ukraine in the top 100 of the WTA rankings. In addition to Svitolina, Kostyuk, and Snigur, the top 100 includes Yuliia Starodubtseva (50th place), Anhelina Kalinina (51st place), and Oleksandra Oliinykova (62nd place). Compared to the previous week, these three athletes lost some ground. Dayana Yastremska retained the 103rd spot in the world standings, remaining outside the top 100.

Rybakina's Leadership and the Biggest Jump of the Week

Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan continues to head the world rankings. The top 5 also includes Aryna Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva, Jessica Pegula, and Coco Gauff. The biggest jump of the week in the standings was made by Polish tennis player Maja Chwalińska: following her victory at the tournament in Wuhan, she surged 11 positions to claim 11th place in the world rankings, becoming one of the most prominent figures in the updated standings.

Upcoming Tournaments for Ukrainian Players

In the upcoming tournament week, Ukrainian athletes will continue competing in several events. Marta Kostyuk, Daria Snigur, and Anhelina Kalinina will perform at the WTA 500 tournament in Ningbo, while Oleksandra Oliinykova will play at the WTA 250 tournament in Osaka. Their results will determine the trajectory of their positions in the next update of the WTA world rankings.
