Xiaomi has launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Youpin platform for the new 500 ml Mijia Titanium Insulated Mug Tea and Water Separation Edition. The device is priced at 199 yuan (approximately $28 USD) and is available in two color options: Moonlight Silver and Space Gray. The crowdfunding campaign will conclude on October 21, 2026. The new product is positioned as a solution for those who are used to brewing tea on the go or at the workplace and want to control the strength of the beverage without using extra teapots or filters.
Gravitational Water and Tea Separation System
The central feature of the mug is its water and tea leaf separation mechanism, which operates entirely through gravity. To start brewing, the user simply turns the mug upside down: hot water flows through a titanium filter into the transparent upper chamber containing the tea leaves. Once the beverage reaches the desired strength, the mug is returned to an upright position, and the brewed tea flows back into the main flask, while the leaves and other ingredients remain in the upper chamber. This gives the user complete control over the brewing time and, consequently, the richness of the beverage. Through the transparent walls of the chamber, users can visually monitor the color and intensity of the brew in real time.
Titanium Construction and Removable Filter
The body of the mug, the removable tea filter, and the inner surface of the lid are made of pure titanium with a claimed metal purity of over 99%. According to the manufacturer, the titanium flask is lighter than its steel counterpart, resistant to corrosion, and imparts no foreign taste to the liquid. The transparent brewing chamber is made of BPA-free Tritan plastic. The removable design allows users to completely unscrew the brewing compartment and attach the lid directly to the body — in this mode, the mug transforms into a standard insulated mug for drinking water. All components can be disassembled for separate cleaning, simplifying maintenance. In addition to loose-leaf tea, slices of lemon, fresh mint, dried mandarin peel, or ginseng root can be placed in the transparent chamber.
Operating Limitations
Despite the durable metal construction, Xiaomi warns of certain limitations. The transparent brewing chamber must not be boiled or immersed in very hot water for extended periods: under high temperatures, the Tritan plastic can deform and lose its shape. This means the mug is designed for brewing tea with water poured from a kettle, rather than for direct heating in a microwave or on a stove. Adhering to this condition ensures the longevity of the transparent element and safe usage.
Mijia Lineup Context and Availability
The new mug is the latest addition to the growing lineup of Mijia accessories tailored for everyday scenarios — ranging from portable coffee makers to vacuum bottles. The price of 199 yuan makes the device affordable by titanium cookware standards: for comparison, similar titanium thermoses without a tea separation system often cost $40–50 or more on the international market. The crowdfunding end date of October 21, 2026, on Youpin indicates that mass sales will begin in the coming weeks. For the international market, Xiaomi traditionally adapts the Mijia lineup for local platforms, though exact release dates and prices for overseas markets have not been announced at the time of publication.
