The synoptic situation in Ukraine in early July is characterized by high variability. While some parts of the country are expecting summer coolness and thunderstorms, other regions are maintaining warmer weather without precipitation. Specialists from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center (UkrGMZ) have published a detailed forecast for the work week from July 7 to 10.
Weather in Kyiv: Yellow alert
Forecasters are paying special attention to the capital region. According to the warning about dangerous meteorological phenomena, strong gusts of wind with speeds of 15–20 m/s are forecast for Kyiv and the Kyiv region until the end of the day on July 6. Consequently, a yellow alert level has been introduced.
Such weather conditions may lead to complicated traffic situations and damage to dilapidated structures. However, already on Tuesday, July 7, the weather in the capital region is expected to be cloudy with variable cloudiness, which should stabilize the situation.
Thunderstorms and squalls in the regions
Over the next three days, short-term rains and thunderstorms are expected across Ukraine. The most complex situation is forecast for Wednesday, July 8. During the day, significant rains, hail, and wind squalls with speeds of 15–20 m/s are expected in many northern, central, and southern regions.
Throughout the day, the wind will be predominantly southwesterly, with speeds of 7–12 m/s. Despite the precipitation, air temperatures in most regions will remain comfortable for the summer season.
Temperature regime for the week
According to the UkrGMZ forecast, temperatures in Ukraine during the current work week are expected to be comfortable, but precipitation cannot be avoided in most regions. Over the next three days, short-term rains and thunderstorms are expected across the country.
It will be somewhat fresher, around 18–25°C, in the western and northern regions on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday, July 9, cooler weather is expected in most regions of the country. Overall, meteorologists promise variable cloudiness and moderate temperatures, which will be great news for those tired of the anomalous heat recorded earlier in the month.
