Renowned couturier John Galliano has unveiled the results of his highly anticipated and unexpected collaboration with Spanish mass-market giant Zara. Instead of creating completely new silhouettes from scratch, the designer took an innovative approach: he took existing basic brand models and literally redesigned them, infusing them with the DNA of haute couture.

Concept and Unique Tailoring

The collection is officially titled Re{form}Zara Authored by the Couturier John Galliano. Its main idea lies in the rethinking and radical transformation of everyday clothing. The line includes familiar wardrobe staples such as a long wool coat, an elegant slip dress, and a classic cotton shirt, which have taken on a completely new character under the master's guidance.

Historical References and Aesthetics

Critics paid special attention to the designer's return to the aesthetics of les Incroyables—a youth subculture from the French Revolution era that brought Galliano triumphant success at the start of his career in 1984. Men's looks featured cropped tailcoats and high collars, while women's looks showcased fitted draped dresses.

Commercial Success and Future Plans

This collaboration marks the designer's first major project since leaving the French fashion house Maison Margiela. The contract with Zara spans exactly two years and involves the creation of four unique collections. The starting price for items in the first line is from 21 euros, making couture style accessible to a wide audience.
