"Tomorrow Trump will meet with the head of China. I told the president very frankly that he could also encourage Xi somehow to reach out to Putin," Zelensky said, referring to his conversation with the American leader. The Ukrainian president did not specify what exactly the Chinese leader's appeal to the Russian side should be, but his words suggest that Kyiv expects a more active role for Beijing, which, in the Ukrainian side's view, has sufficient contacts with Moscow to use them to influence the Kremlin's course.
