An important meeting took place in Kyiv that could change the direction of diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner — trusted associates of former US President Donald Trump.
Purpose of the Visit: Accelerating the End of the War
According to information obtained from Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, the main topic of the conversation was discussing ways to resume dialogue with the Russian Federation. The parties considered ideas aimed at launching a negotiation process and thereby accelerating the end of hostilities.
Currently, the details of the conversation remain confidential. Ravid noted that other details of the meeting are not yet known to the general public, however, the very fact of discussing such a sensitive topic at the highest level of power indicates the seriousness of intentions.
Confirmation from the President's Office
Immediately after the information appeared in Western media, RBC-Ukraine contacted presidential adviser Dmytro Litvin for a comment. He confirmed that the meeting did indeed take place.
"We just finished the conversation," the adviser answered laconically, confirming the fact of the dialogue but without going into details of the discussed scenarios. This confirmation became an important signal for the international community, indicating that the Ukrainian leadership is ready to consider various diplomatic scenarios with the participation of influential American intermediaries.
